North Temple Boulevard – Avenue of Lights

Wilbur Smith asked MGB+A to represent the urban design for the TRAX line between the Salt Lake International Airport and Downtown Salt Lake City. MGB+A played a leading role on the team to meet with the community and define the urban design palette that should be used to enhance the neighborhood through which the rail corridor extends. MGB+A worked with FFKR and Landmark Design to produce the Urban Design that transforms North Temple into a “Great Street” with enhanced pedestrian elements including street furniture, pedestrian lighting, special paving at intersections, art, and street trees in tree grates that tie into new station platforms. Special attention was given to the Jordan River crossing to emphasize the river and connect the new pedestrian trails to the Jordan River Parkway.
