Idaho Falls Temple
Idaho Falls Temple
Idaho Falls, Idaho
Client: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Scope: Landscape Architecture
On this existing temple site the trees had become over grown blocking security lighting and photo opportunities to the temple for wedding parties and other users were limited. The Church selected MGB+A to prepare a master plan for landscape improvements to the Idaho Falls Temple.
MGB+A identified that pedestrian circulation paths were informal and the bridal courtyard needed upgrading. MGB+A proposed a formal pedestrian path system that is symmetrical to the temple and provides photo courtyards at each corner of the temple site. Lighting is also upgrading and new lights added allowing the existing trees to remain. The front entry of the temple was also modified to include a fountain that mimics the Idaho Falls and provides a slide away gate for optimum views into the temple for a better entry experience and photography. The master plan was eagerly accepted, funding accelerated and MGB+A prepared construction drawings to complete these improvements.
