North Temple Trax Line

North Temple Trax Line

Salt Lake City, Utah
Client: Wilbur Smith Associates
Scope: Landscape Architecture, Urban Design

MGB+A was asked by Wilbur Smith to represent the urban design for the TRAX line between the Salt Lake International Airport and Downtown Salt Lake City. MGB+A played a leading role on the team to meet with the community and define the urban design palette to be used to enhance the neighborhood that the rail corridor extends through. MGB+A worked with a local architect and landscape architect to produce the Urban Design that transforms North Temple into a “Great Street” with enhanced pedestrian elements including street furniture, pedestrian lighting, special paving at intersections, art, street trees in tree grates that tie into new station platforms. Special attention was given to the Jordan River crossing to emphasize the river and connect the new pedestrian trails to the Jordan River Parkway.
