Bountiful Creekside Park

Bountiful Creekside Park

Bountiful, Utah
Client: Bountiful City
Scope:  Landscape Architecture, Planning

The acquisition of two large residential parcels on both sides of the Millcreek waterway presented a unique opportunity to create an iconic city park in the middle of a town that has very little undeveloped open space left for new park creation. Local citizens were very concerned with what would become of the land and their connection to Mill Creek. Because of the local interest MGB+A orchestrated an in-depth public input process, including meetings and web-based surveys, to provide citizens ample opportunity to be involved and help direct the design of the new park.

The master plan conveys the essence of the citizens’ vision for the parcels. The plan includes an incredible two-level playground with specialized equipment for children with disabilities, a 14’ high tower, multiple climbing nets, and a natural looking climbing boulder intended to mimic the locally-famous “Elephant Rock”. The park plans also include multiple picnic pavilions, an extensive trail system that connects the park to the larger pedestrian community, and a custom pedestrian bridge over Millcreek. Another component of the project involves the restoration of woodland areas and the harmonious juxtaposition of riparian and upland vegetative species.
